The Italian fashion house Prada has teamed up with Sotheby's auction house for the charity project, "Tools of Memory". Together they will help to raise funds in support of UNESCO's educational programs for vulnerable populations around the world.
As the result of the collaboration with Sotheby's, Prada has dedicated its new campaign to the auction. Instead of a static series of photos, the catalog has become the main attribute of the campaign. The coronavirus pandemic has sharply highlighted the question of the meaning of fashion in a broad context. Prada calls fashion a meaningful and useful tool for bringing about change. "The COVID-19 pandemic and resulting lockdown of Spring 2020 has not only affected the machinations of the fashion system–making it impossible to work in manners previously deemed essential–but raised questions about fashion’s place within a wider social context," Prada stated in the press release.

During the auction, Prada will display items from its latest men's and women's collections, as well as fabrics, invitations to shows and decor elements from its Fall/Winter 2020 runways.  "Fashion has a duty not only to reflect its times, but to help shape them," the brand commented. "What we create today becomes a memory for tomorrow. That is especially true in fashion. Clothes are mnemonic devices – they remind us of mood, of emotion and of experience." The auction will take place online, from October 2nd till the 15th. The full catalogue will be available in September.
